Four tomatoes poked out of the ground today, defying the 70 degree temperature requirement printed on the seed packet!

Also just arrived, a fourth convolvulus.

On the right is a picture of my nasturtium plants. The tallest is 10", about an inch-and-a-half shorter than my nephew Ben's plant. (That leaf he pulled off maybe made the next shoot grow faster to replace the lost leaf. Way to go, plant!)

To the left is a picture of this basement garden I've been writing about. The plant in the foreground is the lilac cutting, now growing a couple of branches(!) Mostly this is just lots of stuff on a big table, lit by two fluorescent plant lights. Their lavender glow seemed harsh at first, but I've come to recognize it as nourishing to the plants and enjoy when it's turned on.
